Riffle Splitters
How It Works
- A dry bulk sample is poured into the hopper.
- The material falls through alternating chutes, creating two nearly identical sample streams.
- Each portion is collected in separate receiving pans or containers.
✅ Typical Applications
- Mining & Minerals – For representative sampling of crushed ore or tailings.
- Soil Testing – In construction & agriculture.
- Chemical Powders – To split batches for lab analysis.
- Food Grains – For sampling wheat, rice, flour, etc.
- Cement & Building Materials – For lab and field analysis.
📐 Selection Criteria
Parameter | Importance |
Slot Width | Should match max particle size (2.5× particle size) |
Number of Slots | More slots = better accuracy |
Material | Stainless steel preferred for corrosion resistance |
Capacity | Depends on sample size (e.g., 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg units) |
